　　1. employ

　　a. How many people does the company employ? 这家公司雇佣多少人?

　　b. The police had to employ force to enter the building. 警方只得强行进入大楼。

　　2. escape

　　a. They managed to escape from the burning car. 他们设法从燃烧的汽车里逃了出来。

　　b. His name escaped me. 我想不起她名字了。

　　It might have escaped your notice, but I’m very busy at the moment. 也许你没在意，可我此刻忙得不可开交。

　　3. expect

　　a. We are expecting a rise in food prices this month. 我们预计本月食品价格会上涨。

　　b. We were expecting him yesterday. 我们昨天一直在等他。

　　c. I expect to be paid promptly for the work. 我希望即时付工钱。

　　4. expose

　　5. fail

　　c. She failed to keep her promise. 她未能履行承诺。

　　6. favour

　　a. Teachers should not favour any student. 教师不应偏袒任何学生。

　　b. The wind favoured our trip by boat. 风向有利于我们的航行。

　　c. She favors her father. 她酷似她的父亲。

　　d. Children favor sweat food. 儿童偏爱甜食。

　　7. feed

　　a. The baby can’t feed itself yet. 这个婴儿还不能自己吃东西。

　　Cats feed on fish. /She fed the cat on fish. /She fed fish to the cat.

　　b. Media constantly feed us gossip. 媒体不断给我们灌输流言蜚语。

　　c. You must feed a coin into the machine each time you want to play the game. 每次想玩游戏，你都要往机器里投一枚硬币。

　　8. fetch
