a hobby can be almost anything a person likes to do in his spare time. hobbyists raise pets, build model ships, weave bas-kets, or carve soap figures and so on. in a word, hobbies offer en-joyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation.
then, what is my hobby? well, what i like most is singing. i began to sing songs when i was very young. my uncle was studying in a college then, so he could sing lots of songs, and he taught me several songs. i showed great interests in the music then, for they were pleasing to ears and easy to sing. my uncle told me they were called pop songs.
when i grew up, my music teacher found that i had a good voice, so she sent me to the children's palace to study vocal mu-sic. from then on, i began my vocal music training. and then i knew there were several kinds of songs, like folk songs, pop songs and so on. what i had learned most was the songs for children. they were all simple ones but our teacher trained us very strictly. we practiced how to produce sound and how to make our expres-sion more natural and more pleasing. those simple training didn't reduce my interest in singing at all and i won awards one after another in several kinds of competition. actually i began to make up a dream of becoming a famous singer in the future.
as time went by, i came to realize that my dream wouldn't come true for there were strict conditions of being a singer. but i still took singing as my hobby since i found in music the interests which were lost in the exams. when i put all my emotion into singing a song, it gave me very good and very pleasant feelings, and a good chance to relax. besides, it was a good way to learn things that couldn't be easily found in life.
now as i'm saying goodbye to my childhood my voice has changed into a deep male voice, and therefore i can sing a lot of songs written for adults. i am often deeply moved, by the melody or by what the song writers said. i can feel that these words come from the bottom of their hearts: "all my best memories come back clearly to me. some can even make me cry, just like before. it's yesterday once more. ""heal the world, make it a place, for you and for me and the entire human race". when i sing these songs, tears well up in my eyes.
i love singing, and the most warm and fragrant thing in life, i assume, is sitting in the sunshine, listening-to the walkman and singing together with the singer.
so, this is my hobby, and i hope every one of us can enjoy his own hobby, en joy the simple, good things of life.

1.should parents set limits in internet access for their teenage children? why?
internet is dangerous if a child has unlimited freedom to use it. because teenagers are too weak to resist the great tempt. various online games will cost their almost all-day time. and many kinds of online movies may teach them unhealthy content such as violence.
also, long-time exposure to computer will do great harm to teenager's eyesight. a child addicted to internet will neglect his study completely. however, the word limit does not mean forbidding. it can't be denied that internet is a very useful tool for learning. in this information age, computer and internet is essential. adequate access to internet will contribute to teenagers keeping pace with this world. also, internet is a fine entertainment for students who have study longtime and get tired. so, i think parents should set limits on but not forbid access for their teenager children.
2.should smoking be prohibited completely in all countries? why?
well, it's a quite complex question. overall, in my opinion, i think smoking shouldn't be completely prohibited in all countries. let me explain my views.we all know clearly that smoking is very harmful to the smoker's health.
longtime smoking can lead to lung cancer and other serious health problem. also, smoking in public situation is awful. people around the smoker, especially the children, also suffer from the damage to their health. in spite of all these bad effects mentioned above, however, i still think smoking is indeed needed in our society. for example, when people get tired or anxious, a cigarette can help to release their body as well as spirit. also, in some social intercourse, cigarette is a essential.
in my eyes, i can't imagine what people's life will become if smoking is completely prohibited. there may be many benefits for individuals, but the social will suffer a lot. so, i think smoking should not be prohibited. it is individual effort to make smoking a useful thing.

good morning, ladies and gentlemen, today i am so happy to stand here to give you a speech.or rather, a real story of mine.
though with time going by,i can still remember what you once told me.you should be a brave girl.smiling, you looked into my eyes.year in,year out, nearly most of my memories are fading little by little.but only this simple sentence remained, without being forgotten in my life.
again and again,i can not stop myself from thinking about it.so ordinary, but so impressive,so moving, just like the brightest sunshine,it helps me go through the darkest night.i am such a sensitive girl in your heart.you said,my sorroful facial expression made feel so distersssed.however, there is one thing i never tell you, that is ,i am becoming a big girl gradually with your words and smiles.i never tell you about it,for i believe oneday, you can see the great changes of mine for yourself.that is what i want to do in return.as i know, that will be the best gift for you.
i suddenly think of a song named my heart will go on.there is a beautiful sentence going like this.you are safe in my heart.more than once,i was moved to tears by it.i know ,i am also safe in your heart.i have already forgotten when i told you i was going to leave for australia this summer holiday.you just smiled as usual, gently speaking.whatever you decide to do,i will be in favor of it,but, just onething, remember, when you fell lonely abroad,do not forget we are here ,praying for you.we are all around you,far across the distance and space between us.i closed my eyes, the flashback started.the memories we had together, once we played games on the palyground,we played jokes on each other, you always wrote a lot of sentences on my articles to encourage me.and the most unforgetable thing, you told me,you believed m i could be a big girl.sooner or later. at that specific moment,i suddenly understood the meaning of this sentence totally.so on that day,i smiled as you used to,looking at you.the last words i said were, keep walking in sunshine.
yes, keep walking in sunshine.i said to you ,also to myself.i know i am not alone wiht your company, and we can keep walking in sunshine till the last minute of our days. i promise,i will be a big girl. i promise,i will be a brave girl.
i promise,i will keep walking in sunshine.
that is my speech,thank you!

for once the battle is lost, once our natural splendor is destroyed, it can never be recaptured. and once man can no longer walk with beauty or wonder at nature his spirit will wither and his sustenance be wasted.
. there your children's lives will be shaped. our society will not be great until every young mind is set free to scan the farthest reaches of thought and imagination. we are still far from that goal. today, 8 million adult americans, more than the entire population of , have not finished 5 years of school. nearly 20 million have not finished 8 years of school. nearly 54 million -- more than one quarter of all have not even finished high school.
each year more than 100,000 high school graduates, with proved ability, do not enter college because they cannot afford it. and if we cannot educate today's youth, what will we do in 1970 when elementary school enrollment will be 5 million greater than 1960? and high school enrollment will rise by 5 million. and college enrollment will increase by more than 3 million.
but more classrooms and more teachers are not enough. we must seek an educational system which grows in excellence as it grows in size. this means better training for our teachers. it means preparing youth to enjoy their hours of leisure as well as their hours of labor. it means exploring new techniques of teaching, to find new ways to stimulate the love of learning and the capacity for creation.
i intend to establish working groups to prepare a series of white house conferences and meetings -- on the cities, on natural beauty, on the quality of education, and on other emerging challenges. and from these meetings and from this inspiration and from these studies we will begin to set our course toward the great society.
nor can it rely solely on the strained resources of local authority. they require us to create new concepts of cooperation, a creative federalism, between the national capital and the leaders of local communities.
within your lifetime powerful forces, already loosed, will take us toward a way of life beyond the realm of our experience, almost beyond the bounds of our imagination.
toward a new age. you have the chance never before afforded to any people in any age. you can help build a society where the demands of morality, and the needs of the spirit, can be realized in the life of the nation.
will you join in the battle to give every citizen the full equality which god enjoins and the law requires, whatever his belief, or race, or the color of his skin?
will you join in the battle to build the great society, to prove that our material progress is only the foundation on which we will build a richer life of mind and spirit?
those who came to this land sought to build more than just a new country. they sought a new world. so i have come here today to your campus to say that you can make their vision our reality. so let us from this moment begin our work so that in the future men will look back and say: it was then, after a long and weary way, that man turned the exploits of his genius to the full enrichment of his life.
