　　A modern Snow White on campus

　　THE first year on campus (校园) is no fairy tale (童话). You come to a new school, make new friends and face new challenges, but not all of them are pleasant. This is especially true of Sydney White's experience as a newcomer at Southern Atlantic University.

　　The girl tells her story in the film Sydney White. It came out on September 21 in the US.

　　Sydney wants to join her late mother's once-honorable (光荣的) sorority (大学女生联谊会). But she finds out today's sisterhood is not what it used to be.

　　To make things worse, Sydney finds she has to share a house with seven unpopular boys.

　　Have you noticed something familiar (熟悉的) about the story? Yes, it is based on the classic fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. While the two heroines (女主角) share the same surname White, tomboy (假小子) Sydney is stronger than Snow White.

　　With the help of her roommates, Sydney will challenge the campus queen in order to change the school's social hierarchy (等级制度).

　　Sparkling star

　　WHAT if you run out of money one day? Will you sell something that you love?

　　In the film Air Dairy (《飞行日志》), Super Girl Xu Fei plays a singer. She sells her guitar to pay the medical bills for a friend. After finishing acting that scene, Xu cried.

　　The 22-year-old said that she once had to sell things before she became famous. But no matter what happened, she would never give away her guitar.

　　For Xu, the guitar means everything. She often sings while playing it quietly. "The best time for me is being with my guitar," she said. "It makes me feel calm. I just want to hold it in my arms and keep pouring out my feelings."

　　However, without the guitar, you'll see the active side of Xu. In the latest animated (动画) film Sparkling Red Star (《闪闪红星》) she gives the voice to Pan Dongzi, a young hero well-known for his bravery and intelligence (智慧).

　　"I've been studying in a military (军事) college for three years," Xu said. "The strict training taught me a lot. So I felt close to him. That's why I had little difficulty in playing the role."

　　Xu said that she admires (佩服) the boy's independence and his strong love for his mum. She was so moved by the character (角色) that she cried twice during the recording.

　　"It doesn't matter if it's singing, acting or dubbing (配音), you have to truly understand or get into your part to do it well," she said.
