  Wanna dance with me?

  DO you dance at school?

The Ministry of Education (教育部) plans to make high school students learn to dance from September. Some students have already had their first waltz (华尔兹) this semester. Do they like it?

Li Ye, 16, Nanjing Meiyuan High School, Jiangsu

"We learned some basic steps of waltzing in our P.E. class on the first day of school. It was embarrassing to dance hand in hand with a girl. I'd rather do the waltz with a boy.

Anyway, most of us don't like it because as newcomers (新生), we don't even know one another. I would prefer to play basketball or do radio gymnastic exercises (广播体操) during breaks and P.E. classes."

Huang Xinchan, 15, Changsha Dizhi High School, Hunan

"I like dancing, but waltzing in pairs makes no sense. When the boy put his hand around my waist (腰), my face went bright red. Luckily our teacher finally decided to cancel (取消) this part. Why not teach us dances that we can do alone? I heard that students in a Henan school do martial arts (武术). So there is no touching (接触) of bodies. Then there will be no concern (担心) from parents that we could fall in love too early."

Zhao Congke, 17, Chengdu Experimental High School

"We have been dancing since June. So waltzing is not that new for us. I was shy at the beginning and often stepped on my partner's feet. Now it is enjoyable. As you have to invite the girl to dance and take care of her while waltzing, it has made me into somewhat (有点) of a gentleman."
